Dear autumn lovers,
This first monthly letter is dedicated to you. I hope it will be the beginning of a long series of monthly rendezvous that I’ll share here, at the start of each month, to give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into my life as a ceramic artist creating seasonal ceramics.
It’s the beginning of November, and we’re saying goodbye to October as we welcome this 11th month of the year 2025.th month of year 2025
My life as a ceramic artist, in the studio, at the start of autumn...
I must admit, I haven’t had my hands in the clay very much lately. My studio days have been mainly devoted to creating this website. What an adventure! Finding the right structure and visual layout was no easy task. I spent hours browsing countless theme proposals, none of which truly satisfied me. I had a very clear idea in mind… I wanted you to be able to discover my ceramics through the four seasons that I hold so dear. I also wanted you to easily find each seasonal ceramic piece through precise categories (mugs, teapots, vases, etc.). Finally, I wished to share my story and the brand’s story with you, to open a monthly blog, to offer you the possibility of shopping online securely, to publish your testimonials, and more. What a month of reflection and creative brainstorming this autumn has been!
The first steps of the website are finally complete, and I’m proud to present this first version — a work in progress, but already full of substance!
At the end of October, I also launched new social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Youtube. If your heart feels like it, you’re welcome to join me there! I’ll be sharing my daily life and the creation of new seasonal ceramic pieces. And don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter — that’s the best way to be notified ahead of time about collection launches.
In the garden of the studio, autumn is taking its time!
Here in the South of France, autumn has been slow to arrive. Very little rain, plenty of sunshine, and lingering warmth are keeping the trees from turning their usual vibrant fall colors. Only the Japanese maples in pots are offering me their first shimmering hues. The cherry tree has even blossomed again — quite unbelievable!
The supermoon at the start of the month was magnificent, and I was lucky enough to capture it with my phone. I also tried to catch the Draconid meteor shower, but didn’t see a single one… What a pity!
In the vegetable garden, I’m still harvesting tomatoes daily. The pumpkins and other gourds are growing slowly and will be ready to pick in November.
In the meantime, I’m gathering rosemary and pineapple sage for winter herbal teas. I’ve also harvested my basil leaves, blended them with oil, and poured them into ice cube trays for future recipes. The garden remains generous this October, and I feel grateful to live on land that was once an orchard, in such a sunny region.
Time for my autumn decoration!
That doesn’t stop me from feeling the autumn spirit. This October, I brought out my seasonal decorations — a mix of my own autumn ceramics, crafted in stoneware and earthenware, and pieces from other artisans.I especially love my butternut-shaped vase, which I created two years ago and filled with dried flowers in autumn tones.
Another autumn ceramic I made in grogged clay is currently holding a beautiful bouquet my husband gave me. The photos highlight the flowers more than the vase itself — but don’t worry, I’ll show it again soon!
My autumn mug collection
I confess — I’m a collector of seasonal mugs! My wall shelves are now filled with a joyful mix of handmade, vintage, and found autumn mugs. Every day, I love choosing the mug that matches my mood, and I enjoy seeing which one my guests are drawn to. It’s my little daily pleasure! My favorite at the moment is my pumpkin-shaped mug, which I made last year — I especially love its glaze.
Cozy moments outside the studio
A book lover at heart, my October readings have been focused on the serieAgatha Raisin by M.C. Beaton — the perfect cozy mystery. I find the heroine wonderfully endearing in all her imperfections, and I’ve been devouring the series for months now. I just finished volume 16.
I’m also re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the new illustrated edition published by Gallimard. It’s a masterpiece, with pop-up pages and magical illustrations by Karl James Mountford.
Lastly, I really enjoyed the latest Asterix and Obelix comic — a childhood classic that I still take great pleasure in buying every year. FadCaro, one of the illustrators, actually comes from my village, and I’ll be seeing him next month for a book signing.
Autumn is also the perfect time for baking! The season’s snacks have begun — cinnamon rolls and pumpkin pies are taking center stage. I love baking desserts and sharing them with family and friends, accompanied by a cup of vanilla and cinnamon tea — always served, of course, in my autumn ceramics!
Happy Halloween!
October ended with the Halloween celebration. The house was decorated with a few slightly spooky touches — nothing too scary, just a hint of magic and witchcraft.
As every year, my children and I carved jack-o’-lanterns that we bought from a local fruit and vegetable shop, then placed them in front of the house. Trick-or-treating was a great success, and the evening ended at the village hall, which organizes a party for children and families each year.
Our Halloween dinner was delightfully spooky, with ghost- and spider-shaped baos, pumpkin bread, and stunning desserts made by our local baker.
Thus ends my letter for the beginning of November!
I hope these little glimpses into my life — between autumn and seasonal ceramics — have helped you get to know me better. If you feel connected to my world, don’t hesitate to share my work and help others discover my seasonal handmade ceramics.
With warm wishes,
